UGS PLM Solutions Rolls Out Redesigned Integrated Global Partnership Program to Facilitate Growth and Expansion into New Industries

The company made the announcement in conjunction with today’s opening of PLM World, the annual conference of the world’s largest PLM user community.

The new UGS Partner Program enables companies worldwide that want to partner with UGS PLM Solutions to operate under a common streamlined structure that will enhance the experience for all third-party companies doing business with the company. The new framework aligns with UGS PLM Solutions’ strategy to grow its solution portfolio, new industry penetration and market share by facilitating further expansion of existing relationships as well as the creation of new ones.

UGS Partner Program overview

The new UGS Partner Program integrates the best practices of seven partnership programs from UGS PLM Solutions open heritage under one common framework and provides a simple tiered structure to accommodate the wide variety of relationships and third-party organizations within the global UGS PLM Solutions ecosystem. All UGS PLM Solutions business partners now fall into one of the following four categories corresponding to their level of alignment and integration with the company:

  • Partner -- a relationship focused on the value of marketing to a mutual client base.
  • Open Partner -- a relationship centered on the adoption of UGS PLM Solutions’ open PLM component products that includes joint sales and marketing activities.
  • Foundation Partner -- a relationship centered on the adoption of UGS PLM Solutions’ Foundation Technologies that includes specifically defined joint sales and marketing activities.
  • Strategic Partner -- a strategic relationship centered on mutual investment for the joint pursuit of significant, long-term opportunities.

In addition, the new program establishes several competency categories used to further define the specific areas of expertise the partner brings to the relationship. These designations specify competencies in categories including software, services, training and technology. Partnering to support innovation

Effective partnerships are widely recognized throughout the industry as a critical success factor for PLM suppliers due, in part, to their ability to expand the suite of solutions offered by a given vendor. According to analyst Michael Burkett as stated in the September 30, 2003 AMR Research Report, Strategic partnering and acquisitions are an excellent way to build out a product footprint.

However, simply adding more products to a PLM catalogue does not necessarily solve the manufacturing customer’s need to remain competitive through innovation.
