Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs

SEOUL, South Koreaand NEW YORK –UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services,today announced that Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Electro Electric Systems Division has selected UGS’ NX™ and Teamcenter® software and services for its Switchgear Department’s next generation PLM system.
UGS made the announcement in conjunction with its analyst/media briefing event being held July 14-15 in New York. The briefing is the first such event UGS has held since announcing on May 27 the closing of its sale by EDS to three private equity firms and its launch of operations as an independent software company under the UGS brand.
HHI’s Switchgear Department has been using a 2D computer aided design (CAD) system for many years. In order to increase productivity and quality in the design and manufacturing phases, the department decided to implement a more advanced PLM system to enable cross functional real time collaboration, resulting in reduced cycle time and a reduction in rework. The advanced system will allow its existing knowledge base to be reused in a multi-CAD environment.
Using NX’s knowledge-based digital product development environment, HHI’s Switchgear Department expects to optimize its production process. Using Teamcenter’s collaborative environment, it expects to manage dispersed product information in a controlled repository and transform it into meaningful product knowledge. Teamcenter will provide the common framework for viewing data throughout the department.
