Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
FOR RELEASE Thursday, July 15, 2004
NEW YORK – UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and INCAT, a professional services company focused on product and information lifecycle management, today announced a new Teamcenter®-based solution for multi-computer-aided-design (CAD) engineering process management. The offering, called “INCAT Multi-CAD Express,” combines the consulting expertise of INCAT with Teamcenter, the leading integrated portfolio of PLM solutions.
UGS made the announcement in conjunction with its analyst/media briefing event being held July 14-15 in New York. The briefing is the first such event UGS has held since announcing on May 27 the closing of its sale by EDS to three private equity firms and its launch of operations as an independent software company under the UGS brand.
Teamcenter unifies designs from diverse CAD systems into a single, manageable system, focused on improving engineering process management. Teamcenter’s robust CAD data management capability not only manages UGS’ own products such as Unigraphics® NX, I-deas® NX Series and Solid Edge®, but it also extends full support for CATIA® V4 and V5, Pro/Engineer®, SolidWorks®, AutoCAD® and Inventor® Series. Beyond CAD file management, Teamcenter integrates visualization technology to support multi-CAD engineering collaboration across diverse CAD authoring environments.
“We’re pleased with this next step in our partnership with INCAT. They have the consulting expertise to deliver our best-in-class engineering process management software,” said Steve Bashada, vice president of Teamcenter Applications, UGS. “The INCAT Multi-CAD Express package combines the power of Teamcenter with INCAT’s multi-CAD implementation services to ensure rapid deployment and immediate productivity for customers.”
INCAT Multi-CAD Express is ideal for organizations that:
· Are developing or sharing designs between different CAD systems, or are migrating from one CAD system to another, and must integrate the data into a common design process.
· Are developing or sharing designs between different CAD systems and must integrate the data into a common design process.
· Require a visualization tool that supports multi-CAD data formats.
· Require multiple views of Bill of Materials (BOMs) associated with product options or variants.
· Are beginning to develop automated workflows.
“Teamcenter’s multi-CAD support reduces development costs by enabling an extended enterprise to leverage their investments in current CAD systems and data,” said Bashada. “These capabilities have a proven track record and enable manufacturers – including large OEMs, suppliers and smaller engineering groups – to reduce product lifecycle costs, compress product development cycles and leverage global engineering resources to reduce time-to-market.”
“Multi-CAD Express is flexible and scalable for any size customer organization, and it features a combination of industry-leading software and consulting expertise,” said Craig Radomski, INCAT UGS Partner Director. “There’s significant value in this package for the thousands of INCAT customers that are planning to embrace a heterogeneous PLM environment.”
