Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
FOR RELEASE Tuesday, March 29, 2005
BEIJING and PLANO, Texas – UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and Shenyang Liming Aero-Engine Group Corporation (Liming) today announced that Liming expects to increase its production capacity by 20 percent to 50 percent by using UGS’ Teamcenter® PLM solution, the de facto standard for PLM, for its manufacturing processes.
Liming will use Teamcenter in the production process to enable it to re-use production data for future product development and to enhance quality and efficiency. Liming currently relies on a high level of manual work, resulting in a slow and inconsistent process. UGS’ Teamcenter will provide Liming the product knowledge management and collaboration infrastructure to bring together its wealth of product and design information in an open, collaborative environment. The solution will enable, for instance, the design work done by Shenyang Aero Engine Research Center to be integrated much more closely with the production work, handled by Liming.
In addition to deploying Teamcenter as its data management environment for digital manufacturing, Liming is leveraging a number of manufacturing planning applications to improve resource management, manufacturing process planning, plant design and material flow optimization.
“Liming understands the value and importance of PLM and digital manufacturing technology in streamlining product lifecycle processes. The company has the skills and experience necessary to capitalize on the existing market opportunity and PLM is critical to enable us to unlock that opportunity,” said Xu Bailin, vice president of Shenyang Liming Aero-Engine Group. “UGS was a clear choice as our partner based on its best-in-class, open solutions and its commitment to supporting customers in China.”
“UGS is committed to the China market. We strive to offer state-of-the-art, knowledge-driven software solutions and services to our customers in China,” said Hans-Kurt Lübberstedt, executive vice president of UGS Asia Pacific. “With a solid and experienced team, we are ready to offer professional consultations to meet the needs of the unique market environment in China. UGS delivers unrivalled value-added solutions that will enable more Chinese corporations to increase production efficiency and quality to better compete in both domestic and international markets.”
A team of local and international UGS experts is dedicated to the Liming project, working closely with the local engineers and the Liming team to achieve the goal of an increased production capacity.
Liming launched simulation tests on the aero-engine components at the end of last year and expects to fully implement the UGS solution by the end of 2005.
UGS was recently selected as the Best PLM Vendor and one of the Top 10 Management Software Vendors in China by E-Business China and www.erpworld.net; and as the Best PLM/PDM Solutions Provider and the Best CAD Provider by National Informatization Evaluation Centre of China.
