PLANO,Texas– PLM World, Inc. and UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the 2005 PLM World conference drew nearly 1,600 attendees. Held May 2-6 inDallas,Texas, the annual conference represents the world’s largest PLM user community brought together around a common open platform.
PLM World, an independent non-profit organization, is dedicated to be the voice of the user for individuals and companies operating within the UGS product environment. Its annual user conference provides attendees with the opportunity to learn first hand about the future of PLM and UGS products directly from UGS representatives and other users from around the world.
The 2005 PLM World Conference featured a combination of general interest sessions for all attendees as well as multiple breakout and free training sessions focused on a variety of special interest topics. Several presentations from UGS and customer executives provided attendees with a strategic view of the PLM industry, the direction of UGS products and the practical benefits of real world PLM implementations.
Tony Affuso, president, CEO and chairman of UGS, kicked off the executive presentations, offering managers and users a view of UGS newest products and actively demonstrating the roadmap and benefits of future offerings. Dr. Randall D. Ledford, senior vice president and chief technology officer for Emerson, shared insights and strategy for implementing a PLM system.

In addition to the formal presentations, 280 technical breakout sessions were offered in 27 technical categories throughout the week providing detailed information aimed at improving the productivity and knowledge of technical users and managers. A variety of topics were discussed by both UGS and customer presenters covering the broad range of functionality in UGS’ product family including the Teamcenter® portfolio, NX™ portfolio (NX, I-deas® NX Series, Femap®, NX Nastran) and Tecnomatix™(including former E-factory™) solutions.
