Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Joins UGS Partner Program as a System Integrator

FOR RELEASE Thursday, May 11, 2006

PLANO, Texas and MUMBAI, India – UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and India’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global services organization, today announced that TCS has joined the UGS Partner Program as a UGS System Integration Alliance Partner.

The two companies will work to create focused solutions for key vertical markets such as telecom, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and gas, and media and entertainment, using UGS’ PLM technology.  The relationship will help UGS enhance its market presence, reach new markets and penetrate into TCS’ customer base with its PLM products while TCS will leverage its global delivery capability and industry domain expertise to deliver customer specific solutions that provide strong return on investment.  This agreement, which further strengthens the long-standing relationship between the two companies, defines a more closely aligned sales, marketing and delivery strategy.

“The UGS - TCS relationship started more than 18 years ago and has consistently grown to address multiple disciplines including global product development, marketing, sales and services,” said John Graham, executive vice president, Global Sales and Services, UGS.  “Today’s system integration partnership agreement represents the next evolutionary step in that relationship and will significantly enhance the ability of both our organizations to deliver world-class PLM products and services.  This partnership also represents an evolution for the PLM industry with its focus on non-traditional verticals.”

TCS offers system integration services along with sales and marketing support across UGS’ entire PLM product line including Teamcenter™ software, UGS’ digital lifecycle management solution and the world’s most widely-used PLM portfolio; NX™ software, UGS’ comprehensive digital product development solution; and Tecnomatix™ software, UGS’ digital manufacturing portfolio.  UGS’ customers can leverage TCS’ expertise in a variety of areas including PLM services, knowledge-based engineering and product design and re-engineering.  TCS is also a UGS’ certified I-deas™ to NX migration partner able to assist UGS’ customers to transition smoothly.

“The strong relationship we have enjoyed with UGS over the years has taken another significant step.  The System Integration Alliance agreement will further strengthen the combined solution capability of TCS’ multi-industry expertise and global presence and UGS’ world-class PLM solutions.  This combination will enable us to provide solutions in a larger, more diverse market and create real value for our clients,” said Dr. Ravi Gopinath, vice president and head of Engineering and Industrial Services, TCS.  “TCS has been recognized as one of the top PLM service providers in the world by many organizations including industry analyst firm CIMData.”
