FOR RELEASE Tuesday, June 20, 2006
NEW YORK – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced its Parasolid® software product is being highlighted in the June issue of Desktop Engineering (DE) magazine for winning the publication’s latest Readers’ Choice Award. The award was determined after UGS’ announcement of Parasolid version 17.1 was published in DE’s March issue and received more readers’ votes than any other product published in that issue.
UGS made the announcement today in conjunction with its annual industry analyst conference in New York.
Parasolid provides the geometric modeling foundation – or kernel – for nearly two million end users in more than 300 of the world’s leading computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) applications. It is a key software product in UGS’ PLM Components suite of solutions. UGS develops Parasolid, uses it throughout its product development applications and licenses it to independent software vendors (ISVs) and end-user organizations on an open, “level playing field” basis designed to provide an industry standard platform for geometric modeling and interoperability.
“We are honored to have Parasolid recognized as a superior product by a group that represents the real end users of that product, the readers of Desktop Engineering magazine,” said Bruce Feldt, vice president of Open Tools, UGS. “We view this recognition as further validation of the industry leading quality, functionality and reliability that have made Parasolid a leading 3D geometric modeling kernel.”
UGS is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with nearly 4 million licensed seats and 46,000 customers worldwide. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, UGS’ vision is to enable a world where organizations and their partners collaborate through global innovation networks to deliver world-class products and services while leveraging UGS’ open enterprise solutions, fulfilling the mission of enabling them to transform their process of innovation.
