Manufacturing Simulation

Manufacturing simulation is the use of computer modeling to virtually test entire manufacturing procedures – including processes such as production, assembly, inventory and transportation. This reduces the time and costs that the physical testing of a manufacturing system would incur.

Manufacturing simulation is a significant capability because scenarios can be tested before the manufacturer buys tooling, reserves capacity, and lines up other expensive resources for production. By being certain of exactly what is needed, the manufacturer can avoid problems during production while also reducing scrap and rework.
