Perform Nonlinear Implicit and Explicit Analysis
If deformations are large, if linear material assumptions are invalid, or if contact is a factor, then nonlinear analysis is the appropriate simulation choice. Analysis of snap-through buckling is an example of when geometric nonlinearity effects are important. Material nonlinear effects should be modeled when the material properties cannot be considered linear for the loading conditions considered. Example usages are for analyzing hyperelastic (rubber) materials or analyzing metals that exhibit plastic behavior because they are stressed beyond yield limits.
NX Nastran solves a wide range of nonlinear analysis problems. Nonlinear implicit and explicit analysis solvers enable engineers to address problems as simple as a plastic catch, or as complex as a car body roof crush analysis. Advanced material capabilities allow you to simulate the collapse of a rubber mount or the performance of an engine gasket seal. Integrated explicit dynamic capabilities let you perform metal forming analysis or evaluate electronic hardware performance during a high impact drop test simulation.
In addition to supporting NX Nastran’s nonlinear analysis capabilities, the Simcenter preprocessor also supports these nonlinear solutions from other solvers. This means you can still use Simcenter’s leading simulation modeling and postprocessing capabilities to reduce preprocessing time and speed your overall nonlinear analysis process time by as much as 70 percent.
Integrated Nonlinear Analysis
Simcenter and NX Nastran enable you to analyze models with nonlinearity from contacting parts, material nonlinearities or geometric nonlinearities (large deformations).
You can perform different kinds of nonlinear analysis with NX Nastran, such as thermo-mechanical coupling, hyperelastic materials and snap fitting.
