Fibersim Pro and Fibersim Elite

Streamlining development of composite products with specification-driven design

The Fibersim portfolio of software for the engineering of composites includes Fibersim Pro and Fibersim Elite. These are both open architecture specialized engineering environments that integrate into your existing 3D CAD system (NX, CATIA, Creo) to create the tailored solution necessary for the simultaneous development of composite part geometry and desired material behavior and manufacturing process. Fibersim Pro and Fibersim Elite provide a high-performance, flexible and productive specification- driven design environment to help manage tedious design and manufacturing tasks, implement changes effectively, and eliminate waste and cost during the manufacturing process, all in an effort to ensure quicker design to part cycle times. Fibersim Pro and Fibersim Elite provide engineers with powerful environments that are easy to learn and easy to use.

Fibersim Pro and Elite are currently integrated into major commercial CAD systems, including:

  • NX
  • Creo Parametric

Fibersim Pro delivers a manual ply-based design method, while also providing the advantage of a unique automated ply design methodology called Multi-Ply. Multi-Ply design is an easy to understand ply design method that automates detailed design tasks using specifications to decrease initial development and change cycles.

Fibersim Elite extends Fibersim Pro capabilities and exploits the inherent advantages of many different composite design methodologies — including structure-based, grid-based, zone-based, volume fill, and ply-based design — to enable efficient engineering of a wide range of products such as large, complex aero structures, automotive substructures and highly contoured jet engine fan blades.

Key Capabilities and Benefits

With Fibersim Pro and Fibersim Elite, engineers are able to:

  • Drive initial development and design changes based on specifications
  • Speed the authoring of composite parts with the automated Multi-Ply design method
  • Create final part shapes, such as inner mold line (IML), based on defined plies
  • Identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues including automated deposition problems early in development
  • Use smart design for manufacturing tools that include darting, splicing and flags (minimum courses for automated deposition)
  • Speed the authoring of composite parts with automated design methods including Structure-Based, Grid-Based, Zone-Based, and Volume-Fill
