Eric Sterling is senior vice president of Lifecycle Collaboration Software for Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Sterling and his team are responsible for developing and delivering industry leading product lifecycle management solutions, principally on the Teamcenter platform, that connect teams with the right product and process knowledge.
Sterling previously served as senior vice president of Global Marketing where he directed worldwide marketing and go-to-market strategy for Siemens PLM Software's full suite of software and services offerings worldwide. His assignment prior to that was as vice president of enterprise portfolio marketing where he led global strategic and tactical marketing activities for the company’s enterprise portfolio, which includes NX, Teamcenter and Tecnomatix software. Prior to his enterprise portfolio role, Sterling served as vice president of automotive industry marketing and was responsible for driving Siemens PLM Software’s automotive marketing vision and strategies. He was also involved with key industry organizations, providing thought leadership on new emerging issues faced by automotive OEMs and Suppliers.
Before joining Siemens PLM Software, Sterling served as vice president of North American sales and services for Engineering Animation Incorporated (EAI). EAI provided enterprise visualization and collaboration technology to manufacturing companies worldwide. During his tenure at EAI, Sterling led the integration and deployment of EAI technology at GM and Ford Motor Company. These deployments led to a successful adoption by the automotive supplier community of visualization, making EAI’s visualization technology a de-facto industry standard.
Sterling began his career in 1982 at Cimlinc Inc. before joining Fuji Xerox as a software engineer. While at Fuji Xerox he was responsible for rewriting CAD software to Japanese standards and developed some of the industry’s first CAD/CAM turnkey systems. Sterling then joined Mentor Graphics Corporation as a senior consultant, working with fortune 100 manufacturing companies to integrate and deploy electronic design automation (EDA) and data management software.
When not working, Eric enjoys running and golf as well as spending time with his wife of 26 years and their teenage daughters. He is currently based at Siemens PLM Software’s office in Livonia, Michigan.
