- Support for the latest Microsoft standards including Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 clients and Microsoft Office 2010
- Customers benefit from a streamlined, wizard-based installation process that installs a preconfigured cPDM environment with minimum interaction from the system administrator
Significant User Interface Enhancements for a Faster Learning Curve
The user interface has been updated to comply more closely with Windows standards for a faster learning curve and improved productivity. Some examples of the user interface improvements include:
- The Summary Tab now gives faster access to key Item data such as associated datasets and item revisions, and easier access to common tasks that can be performed on the selected item
- Fast searching with wildcard capability is now available in the Explorer panel
- Search results can be easily visualized with the assistance of thumbnail graphics
- Localization in 10 languages is extended to include preconfigured reports and to the optional Classification module
- Ability to initiate a new sub-process from a workflow that is currently active
Expanded Bill-of-Materials Capabilities
The comprehensive Structure Manager module that is a standard part of Teamcenter Express has been enhanced so that a bill-of-material can be imported directly from Excel, creating new Items and a new product structure in Teamcenter Express. BOM capabilities have also been enhanced including markup of proposed changes and the ability to selectively apply or reject BOM markups
Wider Access to a Single Source of Product Data
Teamcenter Express Version 5.3 supports wide access to a single source of product data from desktop applications through enhanced integrations with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and a new utility to bulk load files.
- For engineers and other users who create and consume technical data using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Teamcenter Express Version 5.3 delivers comprehensive integration with Microsoft Office 2010, including a new capability to manage markups.
- Adobe Acrobat is now run inside the Lifecycle Viewer for comprehensive visualization of PDF files, and markups of PDF files can be managed by Teamcenter Express.
- A new capability to drag and drop multiple files from Windows folders, creating the appropriate datasets in Teamcenter Express is now available.
Expanded Project Scheduling Capabilities
Teamcenter Express V5.3 adds additional project scheduling capabilities that enable easier access for reviewing project status and enhanced project planning and cost analysis capabilities.
- The Teamcenter Express web client now supports access to project schedules enabling more users to review project schedules and the links between project tasks and cPDM data and processes
- Project planning capabilities are expanded with new work breakdown structures and critical path analysis
- Project cost analysis is also enhanced with a timesheet capability and earned value calculations
