Urban August is senior vice president and managing director for Germany for Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Based at the company’s German headquarters in Cologne, August directs Siemens PLM Software’s second largest organization globally, covering offices in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin, Hannover and Hamburg. He and his team are responsible for all aspects of Siemens PLM Software’s business in the region, including Sales, Sales Support and Services Delivery.
Urban brings exceptional experience and success in business strategy and development to the company. After earning a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne, he joined Siemens in 1985. Over the next 13 years he held increasingly responsible positions in Software Development, Research and Development and Sales within Germany before being appointed Director, Motion Control Systems for Siemens Automation and Drives in Italy. There, he successfully drove annual double digit growth rates before becoming Senior Vice President, Automation and Drives for Siemens Canada Limited. In this position he restructured the business, resulting in a newly profitable and successful organization.
Prior to joining Siemens PLM Software in 2010, he also served as Vice President, Automation & Drives for Hamburg, Bremen and Rostock, and most recently as Senior Vice President, Industry Automation and Drive Technologies (IA & DT) for the division’s North Germany region.
