BAE Systems Global Combat Systems (GCS) provides land forces with platforms, systems and through-life capability management. The Systems Integration Facility at GCS helps engineers and vehicle crews work together to develop enhanced capabilities and urgent modifications for the British Army’s in-service fleet of main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers. In addition, the facility is used to design and demonstrate vehicle concepts and systems integration capabilities for future requirements. At the heart of the facility, the 3D visualization laboratory (VR dome) is used to display three-dimensional, life-size, fully textured, virtual stereoscopic models using Vega Prime™ visualization software from Presagis and Teamcenter® software from Siemens PLM Software.
The Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) is one of Europe’s leading institutes in the area of maritime research, consulting and knowledge transfer. From offices in Bremen and Bremerhaven, Germany, the organization’s interdisciplinary teams take on projects from all over the world, such as optimizing logistics of offshore wind power engineering. When ISL was asked to consult on the logistics for wind farm construction projects in the North, Irish and Baltic seas, it teamed up with the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Research to develop a computer simulation of the wind station assembly process. The simulation model, which depicts many of the logistical processes, is created with Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software from Siemens PLM Software.
