Desarrollo Regional

We believe PLM can build much more than bottom lines. In an increasingly global marketplace, Siemens PLM Software sees PLM's potential to strengthen emerging economies and ultimately improve the quality of life for people in developing nations.

A cornerstone of our Global Opportunities in PLM (GO PLM) initiative, Siemens PLM Software's regional productivity programs foster manufacturing technology environments that grow regional economies. In the US, the program has sponsored initiatives to tap underutilized talents in rural Maine, Idaho, Alabama and Wisconsin. Globally, we've awarded grants to recipients in Uganda, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and other developing markets.

Some of the programs we support include:

  • Virginia Biosciences Development Center Through the Virginia Biosciences Development Center, Siemens PLM Software gives start-up medical device entrepreneurs in central Virginia access to proprietary I-deas CAD/CAM software.
  • Makerere University Engineering Program Siemens PLM Software awarded a $4.2 million PLM software grant to Makerere University of Uganda, to strengthen its engineering programs and boost the country's technology base.
  • Emerging Technologies Center of the Americas Siemens PLM Software awarded the center a $7.6 million grant for a Unigraphics system, a software and hardware bundle for computer-integrated manufacturing used by more than 24,000 companies around the world.
  • YanCheng Institute of Technology To integrate PLM software into its undergraduate curriculum and create an independent Siemens PLM Software College at the institute, Siemens PLM Software has provided YCIT with $73 million in software and technical support.
