The Profile Geometry Manager enables the following operations on profiles.

• Creating offset profiles.
• Computing loop properties - loop length and loop area are currently supported.

When optionally integrated with the 2D DCM, additional capabilities are supported:

• Updating offset profiles automatically in response to 2D DCM-based parametric design modifications.
• Solving geometric constraints between loops of geometry and other individual geometries or other loops.
• Constraining loop properties - loop length and loop area dimensions are currently supported.

The tour provides a step-by-step description of how the PGM can be used in a 2D CAD/CAM application, how it is driven by the end-user, and what benefits it provides. In brief, the process is as follows:

• Connected sequences of edges from the application's sketch environment are added to the PGM to create loops.
• If the 2D DCM is being used in combination with the PGM, the relevant geometry and constraints are added to the 2D DCM
• The PGM is instructed to perform operations on the loop. For example, to create an offset loop, or to compute the area of the loop. All results are computed by the PGM and passed to the application.
