PLANO, Texas, August 3, 2007 – UGS PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced UGS PLM Software-sponsored racing teams Joe Gibbs Racing and KB Racing – whose cars are developed with the help of UGS PLM Software technology – won the NASCAR® NEXTEL Cup Series Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and NHRA Pro Stock Fram-Autolite NHRA Nationals respectively.
Joe Gibbs Racing driver
Tony Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion and winner of the
2002 Winston Cup title, who won the USG Sheetrock 400 at
Chicagoland Speedway on July 15, took the checkered flag again this
week at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor
Speedway for back-to-back wins.
KB Racing’s Greg Anderson, the three-time NHRA Pro Stock
world champion, won the Fram-Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma,
California, to remain at the top of the standings for the NHRA Pro
Stock Championship. With this win, his seventh this season,
Anderson became one of only 10 drivers in history to win 50 NHRA
races. Anderson reached the 50 win milestone in 189 races,
second only to NHRA legend Bob Gilden, who claimed 50 wins in 139
races.
Andretti Green
Racing’s Dario Franchitti, who won the Indy 500 earlier in
the season, has won two of the last five races, the Iowa Corn Indy
250 at Iowa Speedway and the SunTrust Indy Challenge presented by
XM Satellite Radio at Richmond International Raceway. In
addition to the above wins Franchitti has placed in the top three
in six of the nine other races this season and continues to lead
the IndyCar Series driver championship.
“UGS PLM Software congratulates Greg Anderson on his
milestone victory and the race teams on their continued
