Karsten Newbury is senior vice president and general manager for Siemens PLM Software’s Velocity Series product suite. In his current role, he is responsible for leading the company’s go-to-market efforts for Velocity Series business on a global basis. Velocity Series is a comprehensive family of modular, yet integrated solutions addressing PLM in the mid-market. He works in partnership with Sales, Products and Marketing to aggressively target and develop strategic and geographic growth opportunities.
Newbury has a strong history of successful organizational management with a demonstrated ability to build winning teams and improve business performance.
Prior to his current assignment he served as Vice President, Integration where he was responsible for overall project management for the $US 3.7 billion acquisition of UGS (now Siemens PLM Software) into Siemens. Under his leadership the integration team was able to maintain high customer and employee confidence and exceed financial plans while positioning the company for strong future growth within Siemens.
Newbury came to Siemens PLM Software from Siemens Energy & Automation (SE&A) where he was most recently General Manager, Process Automation Solutions. In that position he developed and deployed a comprehensive turnaround program for the business that put it on a profitable growth path. Also while at SE&A he served as Business Manager, Manufacturing Execution Systems, responsible for starting up North American Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) business for Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D). In three years he was able to build U.S. market awareness of Siemens from no ranking to #6 of Top 100 software suppliers and successfully ramp up sales that exceeded plan.
Following internships at SAP, Banque Nationale Agricole, Siemens Management Consulting and Mercedes Benz, he began his career at Siemens as Marketing Manager for Siemens A&D CD. He later moved to Siemens AG as Executive Board Assistant, Industry, where he was able to apply his extensive skills in strategic planning and project management.
Karsten holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany with a dual major in computer integrated manufacturing and business administration.
