Martien Merks is senior vice president and managing director for Germany for Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Based at the company’s German headquarters in Cologne, Merks directs Siemens PLM Software’s second largest organization globally, covering offices in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin, Hannover and Hamburg. He and his team are responsible for all aspects of Siemens PLM Software’s business in the region, including Sales, Sales Support and Services Delivery.
Martien joined Siemens PLM Software in 1993 as a sales executive in the Benelux region. After a period of successfully working with large accounts, he was promoted to Sales Manager and Country Manager for Benelux before being appointed to lead the company’s German operation in July 2006.
Merks began his career at Philips Electronics in IT/Mechanization. Five years later, he joined Volmac (now Capgemini) as Project Manager, Technical Software and started a practice in CAD/PDM. From there he moved to a sales and service management role at Rocomp, a software reseller in the Netherlands, before joining Siemens.
Martien resides in the Netherlands with his wife, daughter and three sons. His interests outside of work include soccer, cars, a little golf and his family.
