Siemens offers a range of capability for programming machinery parts, including the latest capabilities added in NX 8 that can be configured by purchasing selected modules or complete bundles of applications depending on your requirements.

With NX 8, you can program prismatic parts faster by previewing and specifying a sequence of volumes to be machined.
The new volume-based 2.5D milling processor presents you with the current in-process workpiece (IPW), allows you to pick the defining faces of a machining volume, then displays the calculated cut levels and the updated IPW. The defining faces can include floors, walls, check surfaces and stock surfaces.

NX 8 introduces a multi-stage in-process workpiece capability that provides an easy way to program parts that require multiple setups.
Because this stock-sensitive programming capability automatically tracks the uncut volumes across setups, you don’t have to. Instant preview displays uncut volumes for each setup, so tool paths are safe and air cuts are eliminated. Milling, turning and mill-turn functions are enhanced with multi-stage in-process workpiece capabilities.

You can automate programming for parts arranged in fixtures by using the new assembly-based programming capabilities. With NX 8 you can program a part, position it on a fixture, and copy it to multiple locations on that fixture. Then, with the press of a button, NX CAM automatically creates an optimized, collision-free program for all of the parts.
This same technology can also be used to automate programming of repetitive features that appear in that same part.

Feature-based machining (FBM) in NX 8 is more powerful than ever.
With the addition of the Teach Features and Teach Operations functions, you can easily capture your company’s standard machining processes. With your standards captured inside, NX CAM can find your features on new parts and automatically apply your specific machining operations – for fast error-free programming.

In addition to optimized operations for machinery part programming, NX gives you a full range of CAD/CAM capabilities including:

With Teamcenter you can manage all of your 3D part models, manufacturing resources, tool lists and NC programs to ensure that parts are machined correctly on the shop floor.
You can even connect your released NC data directly to machine controllers with Shop Floor Connect for Teamcenter.
