Teamcenter 8 includes multiple enhancements for the automotive industry, further extending Teamcenter’s productivity advantage. Productivity improvements for Bill of Materials (BOM) management, requirements management and engineering process management headline the new features.

Global Engineering

• BOM Management - Teamcenter’s enhanced associability and assignment propagation for EBOM and MBOM provides an automated but controlled update and structure alignment synchronization. This helps simplify the continuous alignment process between EBOM and MBOM.
• Enterprise Knowledge Foundation - Through Teamcenter 8, the scalability of deployment and product data management has been dramatically improved. New capabilities allow greater collaboration across multi-language installations and global deployments through localization.
• Supplier Relationship Management - A highlight of this release is the closed loop solution for large file handling, which leverages the Internet to connect global suppliers who are not traditionally integrated.

Body in White Design

• Engineering Process Management - Visual Issue Management allows capturing, management and communication of design issues from visual analysis. This reduces cycle time and errors for engineering change processes by enabling everyone to visually review issues, easily collaborate and communicate ideas.
• Lifecycle Visualization - Teamcenter 8 support and management of assembly-level positive material identification (PMI) and assembly-level attributes help to provide easier access to this information and reduces the process integration effort.

Mechatronics

• ECAD Integration - Integrating popular ECAD systems (like PADS, OrCAD and Expedition) into Teamcenter allows ECAD data to be managed in the context of the rest of the product, and helps reduce rework and schedule delays by storing and managing ECAD data in a single source of product and process knowledge.
• Software Change Management - Software changes/issues are put in the context of the rest of the product, which helps reduce warranty cost and increase quality tracking.
• Electronics Part Library Management - Multiple ECAD tools have access to part libraries. This helps create the right BOM the first time, and eliminates part duplication and use of obsolete and/or unapproved parts.

Sustainability

• Requirements Management - Advanced requirements management captures the voice of the customer and other internal/regulatory requirements up-front in the planning phase. Each requirement is linked to its applicable parts and project tasks, and are visible to designers during product design in their NX CAD system. This enables realization of the requirements and full traceability throughout the development process.
• Portfolio, Program and Project Management - Associate and track projects with a sustainability planning portfolio, for improved linking of sustainability strategy to execution.
• Engineering Process Management - Capture sustainability issues visually and manage issue status, including study/resolution, through a formal change process.
• Compliance Management - Document and records management are coupled with business process visibility, executive management awareness and control capabilities. Teamcenter helps you enforce environmental standards (including WEEE, ELV, RoHS, and REACH), simplify management and reduce risk through access to compliance information, support for reporting and data exchange protocols, and pass/fail status on parts (standard, manufacturer and commercial parts).

Systems Engineering

• Fully Integrated Requirements Management - Capture and communicate the voice of the customer to the enterprise to align product decisions with customer needs. Break out functional requirements by role/responsibility, and distribute them across the enterprise or product team for execution.
• Lifecycle Requirements Traceability - Association of all related product data with requirements ensures the ability to trace each requirement from source to the implemented parts, along the entire traceability “path”. Audit compliance with requirements, flag any issues of non-compliance and trigger change notification to affected parties.
