A Car is Born

From Horseless Carriage to Virtual Reality

We've come a long way. View the story of manufacturing in the auto industry from the early days to the digital environment of today.

"A Car Is Born," the first TV documentary to cover the history of the product development process in the automotive industry, uses historical footage, modern video images and interviews with some of the top executives in the industry.

The program takes viewers through all the steps needed to develop a new car:

       - Product planning

       - Styling and design

       - Engineering

       - Testing and Development

       - Manufacturing

Each segment describes how today's modern digital technology has dramatically changed the development process. "A Car Is Born" literally starts with the horseless carriage and takes the viewers into the world of virtual reality.

John McElroy, noted automotive analyst and president of Blue Sky Productions, is the executive producer of "A Car is Born." In addition to the incredible video footage that John has acquired to support the story, he uses exclusive interviews from executives at General Motors and Ford:

- GM - Gary Cowger, Jerry Elson, Bob Lutz, Jim Queen and Ralph Szygenda

- Ford - Peter Horbury, Roman Krygier, Phil Martens and Al Ver.
