The business decisions we make as a company are based on the value we can provide to our customers. We deeply understand the challenges they face in trying to connect globally dispersed employees, suppliers, partners and customers in a collaborative environment where they can benefit from each others’ knowledge, experience and creative thinking. Their greatest opportunity for innovation comes when they involve people from all phases of a product’s lifecycle, including design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, marketing, sales, services and more. Through our expanded alliance with Microsoft we believe we can make that process easier and give our customers in industries ranging from automotive to health care a winning edge by providing powerful PLM applications on a platform that is familiar and easy to use across multiple organizations for virtually anyone who touches a segment of a product’s lifecycle.

UGS’ vision of Global Innovation Networks aligns very closely with Microsoft’s “People-Ready” business initiative. UGS and Microsoft share a common view of how software can revolutionize product development and heighten innovation by making access to PLM more pervasive throughout the extended enterprise.  We have worked closely with Microsoft since 1995, when we began porting our products to the Windows NT® operating system, and the relationship has continued to expand since then, based on the complementary value we can offer our customers. Now we are taking a significant step forward by deepening the integration between products in our NX™, Teamcenter™, Velocity Series™ and Tecnomatix™ portfolios with current and future Microsoft® products, including (ASP.NET 2.0, Windows Server™ 2003, SQL Server 2005, SharePoint®, and 64-bit editions of Windows®). Now through our expanded alliance, for the first time a full suite of PLM solutions will be offered to the market completely based on the Microsoft platform.

Of course we will also continue to build and offer our products on other technology platforms as well.  Innovation depends on openness and UGS’ “Open for Business” philosophy ensures that we will continue providing the widest and most flexible set of solutions possible to meet the varied needs and preferences of all our customers while helping them connect productively to others in their global innovation networks.

In the end that’s what will make your business more competitive – connecting people, bringing them into your innovation network and giving them the tools to work together for success.  It will be exciting to see the results as companies are able to extend PLM more deeply than ever within their extended enterprise organizations.
