Using the I-deas to NX Transition Training Program
Training is a critical piece in the Evolution of Excellence process, so UGS Education Services developed a learning program that leverages the existing knowledge of I-deas™ users and puts those users on a fast track for discovering the power of NX™software. The learning program uses a "Blended Learning" approach, consisting of knowledge assessments, self-paced training materials and instructor-led training courses. These tools are facilitated by UGS Learning Advantage, the learning management system from UGS Education Services. To learn how to get a membership, access the UGS Learning Advantage site.
I-deas to NX Transition Learning Track
A new learning track on the UGS Education Services web site provides information on how to plan courses for those transitioning from I-deas to NX. A combination of self-paced and instructor led courses may be used as the user gains more productive skills with NX. Note: users are required to take the I-deas to NX Transition Assessments to verify qualifications before attending this course.
Advisors and Assessments
To learn what instructor-led training is best suited to their needs, customers can take advantage of the assessments for experienced I-deas users who are transitioning to NX. Customers can access their UGS Learning Advantage account and then find the Advisors and Assessments section, which contains assessments for I-deas to NX Transition. Upon completion of these assessments, customers will be directed to the training courses that would most effectively and efficiently serve their needs.
Self-paced Training
Self-paced training for I-deas to NX Transition begins with the NX Quicktour for I-deas Users. This training course is designed to leverage the knowledge and experience of I-deas users as the new and powerful features of NX are introduced. The course includes an overview of the NX user interface, part modeling techniques, drafting and assembly concepts, and data migration.
Customers can find additional self-paced training materials on-line from their UGS Learning Advantage account. Under membership, they can browse the Self Paced Courses section for more details.
Instructor-Led Training
The I-deas to NX Transition course is an accelerated training course for experienced I-deas users. The course will quickly get the user up to speed with NX to manage data, work with existing parts, create new parts, and work with assembly and drafting tools. The UGS instructor will illustrate how the existing functionality of I-deas has been mapped into NX, and how new NX functionality can be leveraged to create efficient designs. The course is offered at UGS Training Centers, customer sites, and in half-day sessions via UGS LIVE! Online distance learning.
