Scalable Solutions Foster Innovation and Business Growth (cont.)

At Boeing Commercial Airplanes, more than 30,000 users have been able to use Teamcenter to collaborate as part of its Define and Control Airplane Configuration/Manufacturing Resource Management (DCAC/MRM) implementation. Teamcenter was also chosen by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to manage all product data for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter - a program that involves three primary industrial partners and more than 1000 suppliers in 30 countries. At UGS' largest customer, General Motors, our CAx and collaborative PDM technologies help GM product development, manufacturing and supplier teams to define, organize and conduct real-time design reviews through access to digital product information across all of GM's global engineering centers and more than 1,000 supplier locations worldwide where more than 10,000 files are synchronized daily.
While that level of scalability is critical to some of the world's largest enterprises, it is no less important to a small or medium sized company - or any company that is investing for growth and will need the flexibility scalable solutions provide.
Smaller companies face many of the same globalization and product complexity problems as larger organizations and they are often part of a supply chain that demands more speed, lower costs, higher quality and increased innovation. Companies of any size must be able to respond to these global pressures and demands by optimizing the exchange of ideas as well as product and process information among all players at every stage of the value chain. That's what Global Innovation Networks are all about.
Global Innovation Networks, including their supply chain components, are at the core of a design anywhere, build anywhere global strategy. Innovators do not perceive their supply chains as being passively connected, but rather as strategic tools whose power can be harnessed to reduce costs while improving product quality and innovation. The exchange of knowledge and information is enhanced at every link in the value chain so that the best ideas, assemblies, parts and process data are readily shared. Efficiency is maximized so companies can improve processes, slash costs and respond quickly to demand.
So whether you are an OEM, or part of a supplier network, scalable PLM solutions provide the opportunity to build or become part of Global Innovation Networks and leverage them into business growth and competitive advantage.
