Microsoft and UGS Further Expand Partnership

Recently, at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference held in Los Angeles, UGS and Microsoft announced the latest results of their long term partnership. Microsoft has made 3D a major investment area for the Windows Vista™ operating system (formerly project Longhorn) and UGS has committed to deliver a direct interface between our applications and the Vista desktop. All UGS® applications will be able to publish PLM information directly to the XAML 3D format. XAML 3D will be natively supported as part of the Windows Presentation Foundation (formerly Avalon) which will be available both as part of Windows Vista and as an update to Windows XP. What this means to our users is that you will be able to share PLM information directly with Windows Vista and Windows XP users without requiring them to download and install any additional viewing software.

This announcement is consistent with UGS' overall strategy of expanding the number and diversity of PLM users within the extended enterprise and of leveraging its partners' investments in core technologies to build more robust PLM solutions. Microsoft's investments for Windows Vista have democratized access to 3D data. UGS has taken those investments and made them work for all of you to democratize access to PLM.
