New Automation Foundation Coming in NX 3

Available with the release of NX 3 in Q3 of 2004, the single-point common API solution for NX will provide a set of routines, protocols, and tools for more efficiently building software applications in a language neutral environment. It provides breakthrough support for Rapid Application Development (RAD) - a set of technologies that make it faster to develop software applications. RAD allows users to converge more quickly on a solution that meets customer requirements.

Along with the new APIs, users will be provided with a new journaling utility that will allow them to increase overall productivity by capturing and reusing knowledge for the rapid automation of routine tasks. Built from the common API, journals can be used for automating repetitive workflow, recording and reproducing problem reports, and for generating templates of actual automation code. The common API allows users to create custom interfaces and capture process knowledge, therefore eliminating chance for errors, one of the main sources of waste identified in a Lean Design process.
